For all trips purchased through Skican, you may choose to purchase Insurance.  Trip Cancellation Insurance protects your payments in the event you have to cancel your vacation because of a medical emergency or other insured reason that makes it impossible to complete your vacation.  The Comprehensive Coverage provides protection before and during your vacation for medical emergencies.

For either Trip Cancellation or Comprehensive Insurance, you MUST purchase the insurance at the time of your booking.

Please speak to a Skican Representative (1-888-4-SKICAN) to explain all the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions contained in your Certificate of Insurance. You are covered the moment you purchase your insurance.

TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCE BENEFITS

Trip Cancellation Insurance provides for the following benefits: 

• Cancellation Protection - if you have to cancel your trip, you will be reimbursed for the full amount of the trip

• Missed Flight - Economy Airfare will be provided

• Missed Connection - $800 is provided for missed connecting flights.

You are covered the moment you purchase your insurance.

COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE INSURANCE BENEFITS

In addition to Trip Cancellation Insurance Before You Travel, you are covered for:

Automatic Extension of Coverage - These coverages are only available to Canadian residents with a provincial health plan in place. There is a plan available for U.S. residents. Please ask your Skican representative for details.

* For US residents and travellers not covered under a Canadian Government Health Insurance Plan, coverage is limited to in-hospital expensesup to $10,000. Subject to pre-existing medical conditions and age limits.

COMPREHENSIVE - C$40 per person per week after the first 8 days
COMPREHENSIVE - C$11 per person to extend the first 8 days by 2 additional days
COMPREHENSIVE - is available up to a 7 week maximum duration.

For Cancellation Coverage, only pre-existing conditions which did not require medical consultation, medical treatment or hospitalization during the 90 days immediately preceeding the effective date are covered.

The Worldwide Emergency Assistance Hotline
The claims hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and staff will:

• Immediately confirm your coverage

• Ensure you receive quality care and compassionate service

• Communicate with your family physician

• Coordinate billing and payment for covered injuries or sickness

• Arrange for air evacuation if necessary

All insurances are underwritten by Co-operators Life Insurance Company (except for Air Flight Accident insurance which is underwritten by Lloyd's).
